Visiting Scholars

Information for Visiting Scholars

We are currently accepting applications for AY 2008/09.

Deadlines:
February 1st for Fall 2008
September 15th for Spring 2009

We welcome visiting scholars to our department, subject to the limitations of our resources. Visiting scholars will need to provide their own funding. Visitors are encouraged to apply for external sources of funding to support a stay here.  We can provide shared office space and access to shared computers, an e-mail account and access to the library.  Visitors can also apply at the library for a study space there.

Preference will be given to scholars collaborating with current UF Linguistics faculty, or scholars interested in initiating collaborative research (culminating in jointly published papers, conference presentations, grant applications).

To apply to be a visiting scholar, please send the following to the attention of the Visiting Scholars committee: Dr. Edith Kaan & Dr. Galia Hatav.

  1. A statement of purpose.  One to two pages describing your interests and the work that you intend to do while at the University of Florida, including any classes you would like to attend.  Also explain why you believe that the University of Florida is the appropriate place for the work that you plan to do and how you can contribute to ongoing and future research at UF Linguistics.
  2. Identify one or at most two specific faculty members at UF Linguistics with whom you would like to collaborate during your stay. Please indicate how your research fits in with their interests and ongoing projects.
  3. A current CV.
  4. One or two sample publications of your work.

These materials should be sent by email or regular mail to:
